AJK general elections on June 26

Muzaffarabad—The general election in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) will be held on 26th June in which 2.2 million voters will elect their representatives for the next five years term through popular vote.

May 26th is the last date for the submission of nomination papers while scrutiny of the nomination papers will be held on May 30. Last date for withdrawal of nomination papers will be 9th June while final list of contesting candidates will be published on 10th June, 2011.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice Rtd Khawaja Saeed Ahmad said in a press conference in which Secretary Election Commission Yunas and Deputy Election Commission were also present.

According to the AJK constitution, holding of elections before 8th July was mandatory. He said any citizen could contest the elections subject to the condition that he supports annexation of the territory with Pakistan.

The Chief Election Commissioner said the candidates would be required to files details about their moveable and immovable property. He said appeals against rejection of nomination papers can be filed by 3rd June and they would be disposed of on 8th June.—INP

  1. surpise by MQM, Now look at the online voting on a private website .. MQM is leading in online support in Azad kashmir or they cheat through facebook share.. But I think Pakistan people party will win online election as they have Govt support from islamabad
